Egg Hunting

This Sunday we headed back to Gary's high school for their annual Easter Egg hunt. Brooke was very excited. This was the first year that I think she 'got' it and was really looking forward to finding eggs...and the candy that was inside.

The only downside was that apparently I had a dirty lens on my camera-fabulous. Ignore-as best you can-the awesome blurry spots.

Best sister shot I got all day.

Caroline's interest in egg hunting consisted of running up and down the football field

Closest C came to touching that creepy bunny.
What do you think they bribe the high school boys with to do this??

Brooke, on the other hand, loved creepy high school bunny boy.
Really...what did you expect?

Someone LOVES DeSmet!!
She asked if we could go to a football game.

Happy Birthday to AJ!

Happy Happy Birthday to my Sister Amy (formally known as AJ)!!!

This past Sunday we got together at my parents to celebrate her b-day as well as Amy completing her first 1/2 Marathon-WAY TO GO Aunt Mimi!!

While we were waiting for Amy to get back after her race, I decided to do a little photo shoot.

Posing for Mom....

Posing how she wants to pose...

No words...

Great Grandpa-Johnson spoils his great grand kids. He is always buying them something special. Recently he bought them an old school Radio Flyer bike (complete with a bell) that they love! This weekend the three oldest tried it out for the first time. It was a total success!!

Zoo-rific Weekend

We, along with every other person in our state, decided to go to the Zoo on Saturday. I figured we were going to miss the first crowd of people since we didn't hit the road until 3:00. I was totally wrong. We parked about two miles away from the entrance. Thanks goodness for GPS on foot...or we may have been lost forever.

The girls had fun...but, I must say...the animal's on display were pretty poor. I am not sure if it was the weather or that it is just too early in the season. The zookeepers were not ready for the 1000's of people that really wanted to see the giraffes...and I was disappointed. We did get to see TONS of Somali Wild Ass!! Like there were seriously three different exhibits with these guys. How much ass do you think I really want to see?? The good thing about these guys, though, is that they bare a striking resemblance to Donkey from Shrek. That made Brooke extremely happy...until we told her that Shrek was not on exhibit that day.

Side note: If you Google Somali Wild Ass (like so you know how to spell it for your blog) our Zoo pops up first...even before Wikipedia. I mean, are we the only Zoo in the country with these bad boys?? I am sure all the other zoo's are super jealous.

The final highlight of the trip was that....wait for it....I got pooped on. This should come to no surprise to my siblings, parents and those close to me. Whenever I go to an amusement park of any kind....birds always poop on me. I lucked out this time, though, and got hit on the arm vs the usual shirt or hair. Winning!

Did I mention Aunt Tracie was able to join us??

16 Months

and a WHOLE LOT OF PICTURES.

So, I could go on and on and on about how amazing Caroline is at 16 months...but I think that you would prefer pictures...right??

The one thing about Caroline at 16 months, though, is that she is not so into the pictures anymore...case in point.

The "I'm not looking at you until you put the camera down"

"Seriously..put the camera down or I will not lift my head"

Sisterly Love???

I am not too worried, though. Apparently once you become 3.5 years....you learn to LOVE the camera.

Or...you just turn into your mother. I'm not quite sure.

Sometimes Brooke likes to take pictures.
Who knew mom had some many freckles! Break out the sun screen this summer!

HAPPY 16 MONTHS CAROLINE!!!

Are you the most amazing daughter or what???

A Not so Easy Fix

One of the things that I really liked when we bought our new house was the kitchen. It had recently been remodeled and needed nothing done to it. This was especially nice coming from our old kitchen that was no where near being up to date.

When move in date came the current owner stopped by the house to get her mail (although I secretly think that she was checking us out). She chatted with me for a bit and specifically mentioned that she hoped I was take care of her baby (aka. her kitchen). She was going to miss it, she said, but hoped she was leaving it in good hands.

Flash forward to this weekend.

Brooke & Caroline like to play a little game called lets chase each other as fast as we can through the kitchen, dinning room and living room. During this session, Brooke thought it would be fun to add a little something to the game-specifically an open cabinet door. As she rounded the corner and bolted through the kitchen...she took the cabinet out with her.

Poor Caroline.
Always the helper.
Couldn't fix this one.

Yeah, she spliced that baby right in two. Un-fixable.

To the Home Depot we went. This couldn't be hard. We just have to buy a new door right?? After 30 minutes we realized that they didn't have a match. I searched every drawer and cabinet for a model, name, anything so that we could fix our ghetto cabinet-no luck.

It was then that we remembered that we still had the former owners phone number. I decided I would giver her a call and just ask them where they bought the cabinets. She answered and I'm sure was totally weirded out that I still had her phone number and was seriously calling her. Oh well, I have no shame. I proceeded to ask the burning question-where did she buy her babies and where can I get a new door.

She was stunned. She kept questioning me, "Did she really break one of her cabinets?" "Was it totally broken?" "Which one was it?"

Dude, you haven't lived here in a year.
I thought that I had attachment issues....

She let me know where they bought them and that they were "VERY expensive."
(Insert me feeling like she was trying to impress me on cabinets that are currently in my kitchen..awkward)

Hope there not too $$$ or we may be living with a one door cabinet for quite sometime.

As a side-note, I also asked former owner where they purchased their hardwood floors. I was not surprised when she informed me that they too were VERY expensive-$8.00 a square foot. I decided to be the bigger person and not tell her that we found the same ones at H. Depot for under $2.00.

Oh happy Monday

This morning while getting ready for our day, Brooke wanted to play upstairs-alone-with her barbie dolls. I didn't see any problem with this...and my coffee was calling.

When I yelled for her to come downstairs and get dressed for school, I got quite the surprise.

I should have been prepared when she called back that she was, "All ready mom...and I look like a Lady!"

She's got the whole smokey eyes thing down.
