Bathroom project-day two

Small, simple updates/projects always become much bigger then they are supposed to be right?

I called Gary today to see how things went this morning on the bathroom improvment project. Well..good news and bad news he told me. The bad news was that when he was taking up the peel and stick tiles, the original (lovely yellow) tiles decided to come up right along with them. Great. The good news he told me was that it would now be done the 'real' way (correctly)!! I guess it wasn't going to be done that way before?? So, no new tiling got done today, but hopefuly tomorrow or Wednesday you will get to see some pictures of what the new flooring looks like.

The other 'bad' news is that I am going to be out of a bathroom longer then expected. Let's just say that going down to the basement 4 times a night (a lovely side effect of pregnancy) is just not a ton of fun! Also, have you ever tried bathing an almost two year old in a stand up shower?? Good times.

Tomorrow brings another doctors appointment. No ultrasound, just a check up to see how things are progressing. I am just dying to jump on that scale! I am not sure whether I will post those results..maybe I should create a poll?? How much has she gained so far...and how much more will she gain?? Yeah, not so much.

Busy, busy, busy

We finally got around to starting on the bathroom project this weekend. Please excuse the terrible quality of the pictures. I was just informed by Gary that the camera has these quality settings that you can change. He had set up the camera to take the lowest quality pictures for some items he was listing on Craig's list. I guess I was supposed to know to check this special setting when using the camera-who knew! So, lately my picture taking has been less then stellar. Oh well, I am way to lazy to re-take them...

We had already re-painted the bathroom to a light green color. Today's plan was to get the vanity, toilet, mirror and floor out-demo day if you will. Gary was also going to try and start to tile the floor, but we will see how time goes.

Ugly vanity and ugly place where mirror was. We will be putting in a new vanity and new mirror (yet to be found...any good suggestions on where to purchase with a good deal $$ are appreciated).

VERY ugly floor. Well, the top floor layer was actually nice. My mother in law was SO nice and did this project for us when we first moved in. A HUGE improvement to the 'gorgeous' yellow tiles! This will all be redone, though, and have new (more neutral) tiles over them.

It is hard to make out in this picture, but these are the beautiful yellow accent tiles that line the wall. These will be covered in wainscoting (sp??) when we are finished.

I am SO ready to have a new and improved bathroom. I will update with more pictures as the project progresses.

Stay tuned...Next up-Brooke's new room.

Root Canal & Home Improvements

As if being pregnant and all that comes along with it was not enough...I have to get a root canal today. Yes, a ROOT CANAL. I am super pumped (sense large level of sarcasm). I have never had to have one of these done and I am a bit nervous. My doctor gave the OK and said it was all right to have done while pregnant-as long as your in your second trimester. So-off I will go to my 8:00 a.m. appointment, hoping for the best but totally fearing the worst. I mean, I am totally OK with epidurals and injecting myself twice daily with Heparin...but a shot in the mouth?? Makes my eyes water every time.

In other news, in preparation of Brooke's 2nd Birthday we are trying to get some areas of the house updated. Included in this venture are the family room (mantel, curtains), living room (new table...or should I say just table since there hasn't been one there for over a year now), Brooke's new bed room (paint, bed, curtains, rug, etc..) and bathroom (new floor, vanity, mirror, wainscoting, etc..). We are looking forward to a very busy (and $$$) September. If there are any volunteers out there that would like to help with the madness (aka TJ) please don't hesitate :) I am hoping that by birthday party day, things will be looking good around here!! I will try to post before and after pics-always makes a big difference.

Now, if I could just win the lottery so we could update the kitchen we would be in good shape.

Off to the root canal...

Skinny Cow

Is it still a 'Skinny Cow' if you eat more then one...in one sitting? I mean, they only have 140 calories and 2g of fat so eating more then one would be acceptable right?? One for me and one for the baby.

And, if they make me look like this...all the better.

Learning how to dress yourself

Is it weird that just now (at almost 5:00 p.m.) I figured out that I had my pants on backwards all day?? Don't worry, I have been to at least 4-5 stores running errands today..no big deal..

and you thought (from the title) that this post was going to be about Brooke...

Birthday Party Weekend!!!

Our weekend was packed with 2nd Birthday Parties and GREAT times! I think that it was the best weekend of Brooke's life-no joke. The first party that we went to on Saturday was for our friends two year old twins. It was a cowboy/cowgirl theme and SO fun!!

As part of the party favors, the kiddos got these cute cowgirl hats. Brooke LOVES hers. She wouldn't take it off the rest of the day-proof seen in pictures below.

Yes-there was a pony! Brooke was so EXCITED when she saw it. I wasn't sure if she would ride or not, but she did and LOVED it! Lessons at Innsbrooke next summer?? Maybe :)

Ok-how AMAZING are these HOMEMADE cupcakes??!! They looked like little mini-horses. The twins mom Brooke is so fabulous at party throwing-I think that I will just show my Brooke these pictures when she is older and tell her that this was her 2nd B-Day party-thoughts??

Brooke agreed with mom-cupcakes were too pretty to touch. She just dug in mouth first :)

Cowgirl down.
This was about 5 minutes after leaving the party.
A HUGE Thank You to the Meek's for inviting us to such a FUN party!!!
Outfit change and we were onto our second party :)

The 2nd event of the day took place at The Little Gym. After about a 1 hour car nap, Brooke was back on her 'A' game and ready to go.

She was a little nervous on the bars at first and wanted Dad's help.

It was not too long, though, and she was hanging on the bars by herself!

Cake Time!
Brooke got the amazing cupcake with Dora's face on it-couldn't eat Dora!

Jack was totally jealous...

I am not sure how we can top the weekend-so fun. Gary and I were totally exhausted afterwards-maybe even more then Brooke.

Good Appointment

I finally had an ultrasound today after what seemed like forever!! I had gotten so used to going in every two weeks that having to wait four felt like an eternity. I had hope that this appoinmentn was going to go well since I haven't seemed to have any problems in the last six weeks, but I went in only cautiously optimistic. The results of the ultrasound were better then I had expected!! Mama Roja has left the building!!! After the technician did the scan, she said that she could not see the clot anywhere. When my doctor came in the room, he agreed with her-he belives that it is no longer an issue.

I am allowed to return to normal activity (for someone who is 6 months pregnant) and no more bed rest. I still think that laundry is out of the question since it involves such heavy lifting and so many stairs..wouldn't you agree?? Gary will be more then happy to keep that up for me I'm sure.

I will go back to see the DR in two weeks and have yet another u/s in four weeks. The only 'bad' news that I got today was that I have to start taking my shots again. I took these shots two times a day with Brooke from the day I found out I was pregnant until after she was born. I have had a nice 12 week vacation with this pregnancy so I am not going to complain :)

As for baby stats, she is measuring in at 1 lb 7 oz. Currently she is in the 43rd percentile for growth so we are right on target and average..same as we were with Brooke. My suspicions were confirmed that she is breech right now as I have been getting kicked way low for some time now. Totally oppisite of Brooke who had her feet in my ribs from day one on :) December 10th is still the due date and (most importantly) she is still a she.

Thanks for all the thoughts and the prayers-they seem to be working!!
